  3. 3

    Pick your tax year

    • Use the tax year switch at the top: 2026/27 (current) or 2025/26 (last year).
    • Everything you add goes into the year that is selected.
  4. 4

    Add your income

    • Open Income and tap Add.
    • Add each source separately – Uber, Bolt, cash, account work.
    • Enter the commission rate and FareTaxMate works out the commission expense for you.
    • Use Today / Yesterday for the date, or tap the date to pick another day.
  5. 5

    Add your expenses

    • Open Expenses and add fuel, insurance, licences, repairs, phone, car wash and so on.
    • Snap or attach a photo of the receipt so you keep a record.
  6. 6

Add mileage (if you use it)

    • Open Mileage and log your business miles.
    • You can compare mileage against actual costs to see which saves you more tax.
  7. 7

    Add any other income

    • Got a part-time job, pension, savings interest, rental property or capital gains? Add them in their own sections so your figures are complete.
  8. 8

    Check your figures

    • The Dashboard shows your income, expenses, profit and estimated tax as you go.
    • P&L shows your profit and loss. Tax Return shows the full tax breakdown.
  9. 9

    Confirm and download your PDF

    • On Tax Return, check everything, then tap Confirm.
    • Download the PDF and give it to your accountant, or copy the figures into your HMRC Self Assessment yourself.
    • One-Time plan: figures lock after Confirm. Subscription plans can amend anytime.
  10. 10

File and pay HMRC on time

    • FareTaxMate does NOT file to HMRC – you or your accountant do that.
    • Deadline is 31 January after the tax year ends (2025/26 → 31 Jan 2027, 2026/27 → 31 Jan 2028).
